Bed at 2 up at 6 to be showered, dressed and breakfasted, before our pick-up time of 8am. Rene was our guide for both days we were visiting Iguazu.
It was not a long drive from our hotel to the gates of the National Park. The park has three main trails that take you to best vantage points.
The first trail we followed was Devils Throat. Being at the furthest point of the park, they have made access easier by transporting visitors by train for most of the journey. A series of elevated walkways lead you to the final lookout.
It is the faint roar that hints that you are near, then there’s the cloud of mist rinsing on the horizon that lets you know you are closer. With every step the roar grows louder and louder until an amazing panorama appears in front of you. Some water escapes over the edge of the cliff face creating a curtain of waterfalls while the rest swirls and drains into the long and narrow chasm known as the Devils throat. The constant spray from the thundering water is a welcomed relief on what is turning out to be a very hot day.
