Our cabin is situated on deck 12, mid/aft, and if you know us well, I would not have to tell you that we are in an inside cabin. But WOW what an inside cabin it is.. All inside cabins should be like this .. We have a cabin that runs along the ship, so we sleep bow to stern. The Cabin is wide and if there is a drawback, it is that you walk straight into the room. If I leave the room or answer the door I have you make sure that Garry is either under the covers or dressed, otherwise he might be sharing a little more than he planned to.
There is a bedside table on each side of the bed and although we do have one of those four berth cabins that have the bunks folded up against the wall, they do not really cause too much of a problem.
Opposite the bed there is a lovely big mirror, TV and a desk that runs the length of the dividing wall. Yes, a dividing wall, walk around the wall and you have an open wardrobe with plenty of hanging space for us both, open shelving and a floor to ceiling cupboard that houses the safe and serves as a great wine cellar as well. Certainly can’t complain about storage as there is plenty of it.
Just off our walk-in wardrobe is our bathroom, larger than our sun class ship, it comes with a low shelf in the shower that can be used as a foot rest when shaving your legs, or just handy to store the extra shampoos and conditioners.
The vanity is large, nice big sink to wash your delicates and extra bench space which takes away that cluttered feeling.
Room is quiet, but anything would be quiet after our poor choice of cabin last year and any passing traffic outside our room doesn’t seem to bother us too much.
Maria Claire is our room steward, and she is doing a wonderful job looking after us with extra towels and ice buckets. Also, TV’s are on demand … thank god … no more watching movies out of sequence.
The ship is getting ready for Medallion Class, and since boarding they have changed the locks on our doors. There is a video panel on the wall where our letter box would have been and all you do is tap your card over the medallion symbol and your door unlocks. They have new cards that go over the handles that let people know if you do not want to be disturbed, but really with all this new technology they should able to click a switch inside to show your room status up on that video screen.
Oh and before I forget, like hotel rooms you need to place your cruise card in a slot to keep your lights on …. But any business or loyalty card works a permanent treat, but alas defeats the purpose of saving electricity.
